Ital to return with second album for Planet Mu, Dream On

Ital – the rough-around-the-edges house project from Mi Ami’s Daniel Martin-McCormick – is set to ride again with his second LP of 2012.

Ital had a mesmerising 2011, releasing a succession of killer singles (‘Only For Tonight’, ‘Culture Clubs’ and ‘Ital’s Theme’) for 100% Silk and Lovers Rock, most of which sounded like they were being held together by sticky tape and emergency blue tac. His Hive Mind LP for Planet Mu, however, didn’t quite capitalise on that early promise. He’s pulled his socks up since, however, turning out a spirited remix of Aster’s ‘Danza’ for John Talabot’s Hivern Disc imprint.

XLR8R report that Planet Mu are gearing up to release Ital’s second full-length of the year. Dream On will contain seven new cuts, and promises “impressionistic deconstructions from the tropes of early house and techno”, which sounds about right. Dream On is also being touted as “much more substantial” than its predecessor.

Dream On is due on October 16. You can listen to ‘Culture Clubs’, our tenth favourite track of 2011, below; alternatively, check out Ital’s freewheeling FACT mix.
