Just as Mick Jagger is gearing up to celebrate one Brown, Fiction Records are paying lavish tribute to another.

In the wake of The Stone Roses’ ongoing reunion tour, the label are set to commemorate the solo career of Roses frontman Ian Brown with a huge boxset. Ian Brown Collected will arrive at the start of December – and it’s nothing if not comprehensive.

The set contains all six of his solo albums: 1998’s Unfinished Monkey Business, 1999’s Golden Greats, 2001’s Music of the Spheres, 2004’s Solarized, 2007’s The World Is Yours, and 2009’s My Way. Brown’s 2002 remix set Remixes Of The Spheres (featuring edits from UNKLE and Freelance Hellraiser) is included, as is 2005 best-of comp The Greatest. The set also features a heavyweight vinyl full of previously unreleased tracks, including remixes from Arthur Baker, Evil Nine and Scratch Perverts. A B-sides CD is also included, and will include Brown’s inimitable covers of Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ and ‘Billie Jean’.

The extra-musical paraphernalia is pretty substantial too. A 60-page case bound and thread book with foreword by John Robb is included, and features photos and artwork from across Brown’s working life.  A DVD collecting Brown’s (often excellent) videos is included, as is a numbered silkscreen print and a “certificate of authenticity” signed by Brown himself. The whole caboodle comes packaged in a case bound design with a hinged lid.

Ian Brown Collected is priced at £150, and will be available from Brown’s website from December 3. In other Brown news, esteemed director Shane Meadows will release his documentary about The Stone Roses’ reunion tour next year.
