In a new radio interview, Dr. Dre has confirmed that Eminem is “finishing up” his eighth studio album.

Work for the album was first announced last Spring, and Eminem has since confirmed Dr. Dre’s involvement. Old sparring partner Royce da 5’9″ is presumably also involved in some way: Royce has spoken in several interviews about material from the album. Chicago producer and Cocaine80s lynchpin No I.D. has also been in the studio with Eminem, though hasn’t specified whether they were working on material for the currently-untitled new album, which according to Eminem’s manager Paul Rosenberg will be announced “post-Memoral Day at some point.”

Dre doesn’t say much else about Eminem in the interview, but does claim that he’s “just gotten inspired again to go back into the studio, so I’m just really having fun with life and having fun with being creative and trying new and different things with myself, just trying to stay active” [via All Hip-Hop]. We’re guessing that the success of a certain Kendrick Lamar may have had something to do with that – but we still can’t see Detox happening any time soon.
