The Holy Grail has arrived (for Samsung smartphone users, that is).

Jay-Z’s twelfth studio album, Magna Carta Holy Grail, dropped today via an exclusive app for one million Samsung customers, but if you don’t own the right handset then you can still check out the lead single from the record.

Featuring generous helpings of Justin Timberlake and a Courtney Love-approved chorus drawn from the lyrics to Nirvana’s ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’, ‘Holy Grail’ is a bit of a cut-and-shut job, with Jay’s verses bemoaning the perils of fame shifting slightly awkwardly into Timberlake’s hands-in-the-air chorus.

The album is available now for fans who’ve got the app, and then globally on 9 July – the full tracklist, including guests, can be seen below. Earlier this week FACT pondered what this unusual release could mean for the future of record sales.

Yesterday the album’s artwork was unveiled alongside the actual Magna Carta in Salisbury Cathedral, while back in New York, Jay’s planned performance in Times Square was cancelled at the last minute.
