The documentary and book could be the source material for another rap biopic.

Welcome to Death Row was a 2001 documentary by S. Leigh Savidge that was recently turned into a book, presumably to cash-in on the success of Straight Outta Compton.

Similarly, talent agency APA is shopping Welcome to Death Row as a possible Compton sequel. As the title suggests, the documentary and book follow post-N.W.A. West Coast rap, as Tupac Shakur, Snoop Dogg and Suge Knight and his Death Row Records imprint gained prominence.

While no music rights are attached to the project, the same thing happened when Savidge developed Compton, eventually securing the music rights before Universal picked up in the movie in 2014. [via THR]
