“Our hearts, our anger, our tears are for you today,” tweeted Tegan and Sara.

The attack on Orlando LGBT club Pulse in the early hours of Sunday (June 12) morning has become the deadliest mass shooting in US history, with 50 dead and 53 injured.

The attacker, who has been identified as 29-year-old Omar Mateen, was a professional security officer and is believed to have been motivated by homophobia. He was killed after a SWAT team stormed the club.

In the wake of the tragedy, everyone from Beyoncé to Grizzly Bear’s Ed Droste have shared their thoughts and condolences online.

“My love goes out to everyone in Orlando but everyone world wide who has to struggle just to be gay,” says Ed Droste.

Country singer Kacey Musgraves responded to the attack first by expressing her condolences, before arguing that more people should have guns: “Let’s go back to saloon days when every muthafucka is carrying a revolver and anyone walking in to disturb the peace might maybe think twice,” she wrote in a since-deleted tweet.

She later apologised for the post.
