Future, Kendrick Lamar, Chance The Rapper and more land nominations.
BET will hold their annual Hip-Hop Awards on October 4 and today they’ve shared the full list of nominations.
Drake and Kanye West lead with 14 and eight nominations respectively. Drake is up for Best Album, Best Lyricist, Best Live Performer, Best Song, Best Video and more, while ‘Hotline Bling”s Director X is up for Best Director. In addition, Drake provided guest features on many other artists’ nominated tracks including Future and DJ Khaled.
West doesn’t appear in as many song categories, but Life Of Pablo earned him spots in BA, BL, BLP and more, while his controversial video for ‘Famous‘ has earned a Best Video nomination and a nod for West as Best Director.
West’s recent G.O.O.D. Music signee, Desiigner, has earned a series of nominations for his enormous hit ‘Panda’ alongside 22-year-old producer Menace (who we’re guessing won’t have to work in that phone shop much longer). The young New York rapper landed spots in Best Video, Best Song and Best New Artist (a tight category including Anderson.Paak and Chance The Rapper).
Other noteworthy nominations include Kendrick Lamar for Best Verse on Beyoncé’s ‘Freedom,’ Young Thug’s Slime Season 3 for Best Mixtape (though it will likely lose to Chance’s Coloring Book) and DJ Khaled, the only artist here to land nominations for MVP, People’s Champ and Hustler Of The Year.
