Turns out the duo are real crowd-pleasers.
Two months after its initial release, brotherly hip hop duo Rae Sremmurd have topped the Billboard Hot 100 with their single ‘Black Beatles’. The track has rocketed to no. 1 this week after becoming the unofficial soundtrack of the Mannequin Challenge, the latest video meme to grip the internet. The association came after Rae Sremmurd conducted a huge, audience-inclusive Mannequin Challenge at a gig earlier this month.
Last week Paul McCartney joined in on the game, giving his seal of approval to the duo by stating, “Love those Black Beatles” when tweeting his own mannequin video.

Having climbed to no. 9 last week, this fresh surge of online hype for ‘Black Beatles’ has toppled The Chainsmokers and Halsey, who had been enjoying 2016’s longest stretch at no. 1 for their track ‘Closer’. [Via Complex]
