“See y’all at the booty club.”

Frank Ocean producer Malay took part in a Reddit AMA last night (August 15) during which he allegedly dropped clues about Ocean’s highly-anticipated album, Boys Don’t Cry.

The producer, who worked closely with Ocean on 2012’s Channel Orange, had made it clear beforehand that he wouldn’t be answering any specific Frank-related questions, although the conversation took place on a page dedicated to the R&B artist.

Speaking in response to one fan’s frustration over the album’s delay, Malay said: “We all massively appreciate and love you guys, Frank has told me this himself many times,” while declaring that “art cannot be rushed…It’s about making sure the perfect aesthetic for the situation has been reached, to do that, takes constant tweaking, trial and error… That goes for any creative situation.”

When asked whether the album was ever intended to be released on August 5, Malay said that he had never heard of an actual date, but “then again I don’t pay attention to a lot of stuff”.

He also described Ocean’s work process as “very focused and persistent… Yet very free.” More pertinently, Malay told fans that “the answer is at the booty club,” and that we should all “stay tuned for tickets and rules.” One fan posted a picture of the producer working on the so-called booty club in the past while another cooked up an equation which resulted in the words ‘Boys Don’t Cry’.

Malay signed off the AMA with “see y’all at the booty club.” He will continue to answer questions throughout the week.

Now listen to a playlist of this year’s essential R&B tracks while you wait *patiently* for the album to drop.
