Meth is my Business… And Business is Good!

It’s one of those moments when you have to do a double take; on Monday former Obituary guitarist Allen West was arrested for taking Breaking Bad a little too literally and running his very own meth lab. It’s something others have no doubt considered of course, but West had allegedly gone ahead and was living the dream – clearly death metal wasn’t paying the bills any more.

West was a founder member of the influential Florida death metal band, but quit for good back in 2006. The guitarist apparently called police after two men broke in to and entered his house, and was hiding outside in the woods when he met the officers assigned to the case. On entering the house however, they became aware of a “strong acidic odor emitting from the master bedroom” which on investigation was shown to be coming from a series of “plastic soda bottles with tubing protruding from them” and a “wet white pasty substance”.

While a far cry from Walter White’s hi-tech setup, the paraphernalia showed signs of methamphetamine manufacture, and West was arrested and held on a $40,000 bond. [via Metal Hammer]
