‘Phoenix’ is Bristol producer Hyetal’s biggest single to date. I don’t mean biggest in the sense that it’ll make the most impact (not that you should bet against that) but on account of its sheer size. Even before it drops, with its incredible ∞-bit synth chorus, those first drums boom across your periphery and you just know something powerful is coming.

‘Phoenix’ is so unashamedly epic, so grandiosely romantic, that it belongs in the lineage of Prince album closers and Michael Mann end credit sequences before it does that of dubstep, or even dance music. Playing this in a club almost seems vulgar – how are you supposed to dance when you’re weighed down by this many goosebumps?
