Hard To Find: Classic & Rare Remixes is a new compilation s from New State Music that’s focussed on remixes, some legendary and others unfairly overlooked, from 12″ and CD singles released largely during the house era.

It’s released on 2xCD and digital this week, with sleeve notes from DJHistory.com’s Bill Brewster. In this week’s competition you can win a copy of the compilation, plus a copy of Brewster’s latest book, The Record Players: DJ Revolutionaries, co-written with Frank Broughton. Two runners-up will win copies of the compilation.

Artists featured on the comp include Stereo MCs, Sheena Easton, Sub Sub, Hall & Oates and A Certain Ratio, remixed by the likes of Renegade Soundwave, Underworld, Arthur Baker and Todd Terry. Highlights include Andrew Weatherall‘s legendary treatment of Saint Etienne‘s ‘Only Love Can Break Your Heart’ and The Chemical Brothers‘ mix of Leftfield and Lydon’s ‘Open Up’. Most of the remixes are from the 90s, but there are some older cuts, like Trevor Horn‘s version of ABC‘s ‘The Look Of Love’, and some more recent, like The Glimmers’ undeniably brilliant take on Roxy Music’s ‘Same Old Scene’.

To enter the prize draw, simply e-mail your name and the words ‘hard to find’ to competitions@thevinylfactory.com; our winners will be notified on or before September 10.
