Glass Swords, Rustie’s forthcoming debut album for Warp, is already one of our favourites of the Autumn.
The most addictive, high-resolution kind of mess, it touches on Daft Punk, peak-time trance, classic prog and funk, Ocarina of Time (Rustie’s favourite video game, don’t you know) and more while sounding like the full-length statement we always wanted Rustie to make, and a perfect summation of his tastes.
Nothing is done by halves on Glass Swords, and that’s never more true than on ‘Ultra Thizz’, the album’s careering centre-piece and a standalone 12″ single due for release on October 10, featuring a non-album track, ‘Dreamzz’, and laser etching [above] on the B-side.
