FACT mix 313: Azari & III


This week’s FACT mix is a rough and ready house session from Toronto four-piece Azari & III.

Comprised of two producers (Christian ‘Dinamo Azari’ Farley and Alphonse ‘Alixander II’ Lanza; the latter behind the decks on this FACT mix) and two vocalists, Fritz Helder and Cedric Gasiada, Azari burst onto the radars of dance music and pop music fans alike with their storming 2009 singles ‘Hungry for the Power’ and the instantly recognizable ‘Reckless (with your Love)’. Both singles also featured on Azari & III, the group’s excellent debut album, released last year on Loose Lips.

Next month – Thursday, February 2 to be precise – the group will play their biggest UK show yet in the form of a headline performance at London’s Heaven. With the promise of an extended ensemble of players, singers and personalities on stage with the group, it looks set to be pretty unmissable, especially when you consider that DFA’s Planningtorock is supporting. Azari & III’s FACT mix doesn’t reflect their live show though; instead it’s a heavyweight DJ session that eases you in with gentle, grooving drum machine house before turning on the acid.

    milton jackson – 1998 (shur i kan microrave mix) is played but not included in the tracklist. 6.58.

    spot on. You could not possibly get into this if you were alive prior to 2009. These type of sound were monotonous and uninspiring the first time around.
