Photek’s ‘Levitation’ has been remixed in walloping fashion by Altered Natives.

The remix, which you can stream below, will be available to buy digitally; the original track appeared on Photek’s recent, terrific DJ-Kicks selection.

“It was a great honour to get the opportunity to remix one of my musical heroes,” says Altered Natives. “Photek’s drum arrangements and sense of percussion always inspired me when I was younger so it only seemed right in my mind that I remixed his work in my own percussive style.

“I chose to follow his song’s original structure as I loved the classical feel and progression of the original version plus his use of more organic sound, so I chose to rewrite using less of the original’s parts instead replaying it all with sounds organic/inorganic more familiar to this end of my own production spectrum. I hope you enjoy the reworking…”

Photek (pictured above) will be presenting a special Modus Operandi set tonight – Wednesday 25 July – for Tiger Beer’s Hidden Depths of Hospital Records party, in association with FACT and Black Atlantic, at London’s XOYO. This is a supremely rare opportunity to hear Photek revisiting the sounds his iconic debut album; for more information and tickets click here. For those of you who can’t make it to the club, catch a live stream of Photek’s set here on FACT from 11pm.
