The rising MC was admired by Novelist, Giggs and more.

Three teenagers have been convicted of manslaughter for killing 17-year-old rising London rapper MDot in New Cross, south-east London last April.

MDot, real name Myron Yarde, was fatally stabbed on April 3. Police had been called following reports of an altercation.

As the BBC reports, Fauz Richards, 19, Lucus Risch, 16, and Junior Lukelo-Mami 16, were acquitted of murder but found guilty of manslaughter at the Old Bailey on Friday (January 13).

They were all given jail sentences, with Richards, who admitted stabbing Mr Yarde four times, sentenced to 13 years. Risch and Lukelo-Mami, who told jurors he dealt the victim the fatal blow, were jailed for 12 years each.

The court heard how Myron had lent his bike to 16-year-old Leoandro Osemeke, another aspiring rapper who was known as Showkey, who strayed onto a rival gang’s turf in New Cross. The bike was then stolen from outside Dominos, sparking the fatal stabbing.

A court order had been in place to protect the identities of Risch and Lukelo-Mami due to their age, but the presiding judge, Judge Cooke, lifted restrictions in the hope he could “facilitate an informed debate” about gang violence.

Lewisham MC and producer Novelist and Peckham rapper Giggs were among those who paid tribute to Yarde on social media following his death, with the former speaking of how he’d hoped to help him with his music in the near future.
