The band’s cover of Blondie’s ‘Atomic’ appeared on the original Trainspotting soundtrack.

Britpop heroes Sleeper – whose cover of Blondie’s ‘Atomic’ appeared on the original Trainspotting soundtrack – have announced that they are reuniting for some of their first shows in 19 years.

The band, who had eight top 40 hits in the ‘90s, including ‘Inbetweener’ and ‘Sale Of The Century’, will be performing on the upcoming Star Shaped Festival tour alongside other titans of the genre like The Bluetones and My Life Story. Check out the Trainspotting-themed poster below.

Fronted by Louise Wener, Sleeper formed in London in the early ‘90s and released three albums in as many years, including their career-defining 1996 LP The It Girl, which peaked at #5 in the UK Charts. Following the demise of Britpop, the band parted ways in 1998 and Wener forged a career as a novelist and journalist.

Last month, it was revealed that another legendary band from the era, Elastica, are back working in the studio after 20 years apart.
