Birmingham’s Supersonic festival, which in recent years has played host to Goblin, SunnO))), Corrupted and other such denizens of the heavier, weirder edges of contemporary music, will be headlined by Michael Gira’s reformed industrial legends Swans.

Sporting Michael Gira, Norman Westberg, Christoph Hahn, Phil Puelo, Thor Harris and Chris Pravidca in their current formation, Swans will apparently be “performing songs from their early brutal, growling noise albums, with an emphasis on the most heavy Swans material and extreme volume levels that they have become most infamous for. They will also play a selection of new songs which feature on their new full-length album, to be released later in 2010.”

No other acts announced as yet, but Supersonic runs from October 22-24, and tickets are already on sale.
