David Lynch seems to be enjoying his recently established sideline as an electro-pop artist. Fair enough, it’s probably easier than making feature films.

Following the release of his solo single ‘Good Day Today’, the silver-haired auteur has remixed Duran Duran‘s ‘Girl Panic!’ (listen above). The remix is available as part of the special vinyl edition of the new (old?) romantics’ All You Need Is Now LP.

Featuring exclusive artwork by British artist Clunie Reid and creative direction by Rory McCartney (POP magazine), the special edition is limited to 500 copies, each hand-numbered and signed by the band, and available to order exclusively from The Vinyl Factory.

The album has been pressed across two 180g clear vinyl records, and packaged with a further LP of bonus tracks and two remix 12″s, including Lynch’s version of ‘Girl Panic!’. The five records are housed in sleeves with exclusive artwork by Clunie Reid, and housed in a transparent black perspex box with clear face, alongside a 36-page lyric book and 36-page art book. More information here.

The Lynch remix will also be available on a special ‘Girl Panic!’ 7″ being issued for Record Store Day on April 16. Pressed in a run of 2500, the 7″ features Lynch’s version and the original album track, and will be available at all participating RSD outlets.

“David’s magnificent remix of ‘Girl Panic!’ took us all by surprise,” said Duran Duran’s Simon Le Bon, “as not only did he manage to infuse the track with the very essence of his own creative genius and signature style but he also brought a new and very filmic feeling to the song.  It’s unlike any other remix I’ve ever heard. We love what he does.”
