It’s been a while since we last heard from Colorado’s Gila Monsta, his production on Gorgeous Children’s brilliant ‘Costly Bottle‘ made it one of the year’s high points so far, and now he’s back with another destructive slow-moving cut.

‘switchinupposition’ is anchored by the interplay between a flute sample and a brassy, cinematic snippet which gives the track a chilling urgency, offsetting the gruesome 808 drops and a lean-drenched butchering of Freddie Gibbs’ distinctive vocal. It’s more evidence as to why Gila Monsta is one of the U.S. underground’s most interesting producers right now, and we have a feeling there might be some interesting things coming from the Gorgeous Children camp very soon – watch this space.
