Enigmatic Frenchman Bernard Fevre brings his Black Devil Disco Club to London once again on Friday 21 May, with support from Citinite DJs and more.

When Rephlex first unleashed the Disco Club EP in 2004, a lot of people thought it was too good to be true – surely these moody, pulsating epics of disco psychedelia couldn’t have been recorded in 1978? But the unlikely backstory has since been proven to be correct – these tracks were indeed recorded some thirty years ago by Fevre and a gaggle of imaginative library musician friends. Since that Rephlex reissue, Fevre has thrown himself back into Black Devil, releasing three new albums (most recently The Strange New World of Bernard Fevre) and the remix collection Black Devil In Dub. What’s more, he’s honed his live show to galloping, gut-punching perfection – so don’t miss the chance to catch him roll it out for free (before 10pm; £5 after) at the Big Chill Bar in Kings Cross.

Operated by Manny Zambrano, Citinite is a fantastic label, keeping the original flame of electro burning while remaining alive to new possibilities and permutations. As well as a bunch of spot-on 12″s from the likes of Gosub and Sweat.X, they also reissued Flashcan – a compilation of high-speed G-funk from 80s synth virtuoso John Davis that deserves a place in everyone‘s record collection.

Also on the bill are Offsetcircles DJs and DJ La Meche; the night runs 8pm-3am. More info here.
