Look, Madlib is working at a rate of  an album a month in 2010, so let’s run through his latest one quickly.

Medicine Show 10: Black Soul is an 80-minute disco mixtape by Madlib. “Black Soul” here refers to a “dynamic point in the Black American musical experience – the mid to late 70s, when soul was giving way to disco, when the groove was on its way to the boogie, when funk was on its way to fonk.” It is due out in late October, you can see full details here.

Oh, and Medicine Show 9 has been delayed – new release date is TBA.

More newsworthy than another Madlib album is 10-10-10, Stones Throw’s celebration of the 10th of October, 2010 (a.k.a. this Sunday). They always do this – 06-06-06 was celebrated by Peanut Butter Wolf playing a metal set, they threw a seven day event with an accompanying gospel podcast for 07-07-07, you get the picture.

Anyway, this Sunday the label will throw an all-dayer at Los Angeles venue The Sex, with ten DJs playing for ten hours, strictly spinning off 45s. The party starts at 4pm and ends at 2am, with Dam-Funk, Danny Holloway, J Rocc, Madlib, Mahssa, Baron Zen, Mayer Hawthorne, Prince Paul, Rhettmatic and Peanut Butter Wolf.

However, more exciting than that is the fact that the label will release a box-set of ten 45 singles, spanning the label’s history. Peanut Butter Wolf, Lootpack, Madvillain, Jaylib, Quasimoto, Guilty Simpson, J Dilla and more feature. Tracklist below [via Pitchfork].
