A couple of months back, Snoop Dogg claimed that his next album would be a Swizz Beatz-produced sequel to Doggystyle, his classic 1993 debut.

Given the fact that Snoop hasn’t made a particularly great album since Doggystyle, not to mention the fact that Swizz Beats is pretty on fire right now, we allowed ourselves to get a little bit excited. Not too much, but just a little bit.

Anyway, the latest from Snoop is that the new album – his 11th in total – will come out next March, and will be titled Doggumentary Music. We’re guessing it’s still intended as a Doggystyle sequel, but either way, Snoop has revealed that the album’s not yet done; instead, he’ll be regularly inviting fans to watch him create it via Ustream and various social networking sites. Hence the title.

In his own words, “I have been in the game for so long and still have the same passion I did when I first started. I want my fans to ride with me on this one and know that I am so focused on bringing good music to them. It’s called Doggumentary Music because this is my life and I want to share my music, and my process of making it, with the fans.”

Doesn’t he have his reality show to do that? Oh well. The first single from the record will be titled ‘New Year’s Eve’, will be out in time for Christmas, and comes produced by Scoop Deville.
