You don’t know raw until you’ve heard STL.

Stephan Laubner’s records are instantly recognisable for their grit and crunch, ploughing a unique furrow between abstruse machine music and sweaty, grinding house. The combination has proven influential on the UK of late, leaving its mark on the dilapidated productions of Blawan and others, as well as surfacing in sets (not least Ben UFO’s Rinse mix).

The German recluse’s Field Records mix places him alongside an illustrious list of contributors to the series including DJ Qu, Brendan Moeller and Rolando. We’re only about 20 minutes into the mix at time of writing, but it’s an absolute stormer – maybe save this one ‘til after work so you won’t get funny looks for chair dancing.
