Hype-goon DJ Khaled makes a habit of tapping up rap’s big league.

Khaled’s list of collaborators essentially doubles up as a glittering Who’s Who of contemporary rap music. 2007’s ‘I’m So Hood’ featured T-Pain and Rick Ross, and last year’s mammoth ‘I’m On One’ called Drake, Rick Ross and Lil Wayne. He also got to do a spot of bellowing on ‘Cold’ (formerly known as ‘Theraflu’). Khaled’s latest big-league spectacular features Kanye West and Rick Ross.

As per, ‘I Wish You Would’ is a sleek and anxiety inducing tech-fantasia. West dusts off the  808 And Heartbreaks-era Autotune, and talks about “post-traumatic stress” and God (no animal noises, unfortunately). Yeezy gives way to wheezy when Ross steps up, dropping assailants “in alphabetical order”. Khaled’s best cuts are like a concentrated adrenaline shot, but here the bluster comes over as a little hollow – make a habit of tossing the kitchen sink around, and occasionally you’ll end up with some smashed porcelain. Triumphant, yes, but ‘I Wish You Would’ sure feels like a Pyrrhic victory. Head to Nah Right to listen.
