Nashville’s Myrryrs shares ‘Triton,’ an in-your-face production that begs for someone to rap over it.
On releases for Body High, B.YRSLF, and Discobelle, Myrryrs has brought an authentic Southern hip-hop feel to bass-heavy house and techno concoctions. With an underground obsessed with “trap,” imitators have outnumbered honest craftsmen (part of why TNGHT is so well-regarded). But Myrryrs is no dilettante: every snare roll and slowed vocal loop feels natural.
On ‘Triton 101’ (named for a Korg sampler prominent in Southern hip-hop), Myrryrs opts for a brassy horn melody and barking effects: the result resembles Beyonce’s ‘Upgrade U’ if it was strictly a rap track. Stream/download ‘Triton 101’ below, courtesy AO-AO.
