Slugabed’s debut LP Time Team was a merry sort of affair, full of unabashed synth noodling  and cheery funk licks. 

As you’d expect from a man who pitched his album as a “computational experiment” into “hexagonal crystals”, the Bath-born producer is more than happy to goof around. His latest jape is a seasonal cover of Wham!’s ‘Last Christmas’, and it sounds like he’s been smoking more than his fair share of frankincense.

The remix features all of Slugabed’s usual tics – rubbery electro baselines; twinkly synth motifs; a sense of mischief – and bungs in some gratuitous “swag!”s for good measure. In an impish nod to beatmaker Mike Will Made It, the full title is ‘Last Christmas (Slugabed Ruined It)’.
