Listen to UK house duo Bodhi's Grizzly debut, featuring remixes by Ifan Dafydd, Bambounou

Up-and-comers Luke Welsby and Olly Howells release an EP of brash, hypnotic house.

The ‘Culture / Deliquesce’ EP, out today on Sinden’s Grizzly imprint, follows last year’s ‘SY/Emanation’ EP (which was released by Push & Run). The Cardiff duo make hands-in-the-air house music that is heavy on soulful vocals and filtered synthwork; fans of similarly-inclined duos Disclosure and Bondax will probably hear something they like here.

‘Culture’ is propelled by piano stabs and pitch-shifted admonitions to “control to the dancefloor,” while ‘Deliquesce’ has an appropriately fluid tenor. 50Weapons / Clek Clek Boom producer Bambounou turns ‘Culture’ into warped, record-skipping techno, while Welsh melancholic Ifan Dafydd pulls his usual tricks on the B-side.

Stream the EP below, and check out the light-bathed video for ‘Culture’ (which features a similar face-projecting technique as that video by Symphony Hall) as well. It’s also as good a time as any to revisit the duo’s scintillating, breakthrough remix of The xx’s ‘Angels.’
