Indie gloomsters Interpol are currently on sabbatical.

Frontman Paul Banks has evidently been using the time productively. The Essex-born musician is about to release a new five-track EP under his weirdo Julian Plenti moniker. Julian Plenti Lives… is due on June 12, and contains a glut of oddball covers.

J Dilla’s ‘Mythsysizer’ is queerest of the bunch. The original appeared on Dilla’s 2009 release Jay Stay Paid, and features snippets of Busta Rhymes – who knows what it’ll sound like pumped through Banks’ baleful voicebox. Frank Sinatra and Harold Faltermeyer are also getting Plenti’d. Two Banks originals round out the tracklist.
