Azealia Banks pulls all Summer shows

Update: Banks has, this afternoon, claimed that the shows were “prematurely booked by my old management without any consideration for me and the album I need to finish.”

It looks like Azealia Banks fans might have to wait until next year to unfurl those homemade “I guess that c**t getting eaten” banners.

eFestivals report that the Harlem trash-talker has nixed all her June, July and August festival appearances. Her new management have allegedly pulled the dates in order to give Banks more time to focus on her forthcoming debut LP, Broke With Expensive Taste.

The affected UK festivals are Bestival, Lovebox, Hackney Weekender, Lovebox, Parklife, Rough Beats, Wakestock, and Rock Ness. European festivals having to do without the ‘212’ star are Way Out West, Main Square, Rock Werchter, and Rock am Ring. It’s still not confirmed whether or not Banks will be appearing at Reading and Leeds.

Rough Beats organiser Mike McSherry suggested that the move may have been wise: “It would have been her first major headlining show in the UK and we were pretty chuffed about getting in there early and backing her to be a great act even before her debut releases. However, I think her management have made the right decision. As great as her Coachella performance was, the UK audience is going to need more than half hour of material from a headliner”.

Banks’ Coachella performance certainly looked like a lot of fun, but it was undoubtedly a little on the slight side. Here’s hoping the album benefits from the extra hours of labour. Listen to her recent take on Lana Del Rey’s ‘Blue Jeans’ here.
