Willis Earl Beal has been arrested in the Netherlands after allegedly assaulting a man during his performance.

According to Pitchfork, the neo-bluesman was arrested in Utrecht following his performance at the city’s Le Guess Who? festival. According to reports, the singer kicked a homeless man in the face during his performance.

Beal terminated his show early, saying the following to his audience: “Because of a few bad apples, we all miss out on one more glorious, fantastic, lovely performance. I love you, and I even love the guy whose face I kicked in. I love him, too. He’s a good guy! He’s just drunk, a little.”

The victim, reportedly of no fixed abode, was allegedly under the influence of drinks and drugs, and police have been unable to offer a full picture of what happened as yet. Beal’s representatives are yet to comment. You can watch a clip of Beal pulling the plug on the show (and trash-talking an audience member to boot) below.
