Thefft Distronaut EP

Jack Robertson, a.k.a. Thefft, has been one of the most promising producers to emerge from the UK in the last eighteen months, and on new EP, Distronet, he looks set to make his biggest impact yet.

Released on Fulcrum (the label behind Paleman’s ‘All Good’), Distronet sees Thefft show off his unique drum programming abilities – samples, finger clicks, breaths and more pulled and twisted into garage-inflected grooves more human than most – across four tracks. The initial stand-outs to us are ‘Jungle Out There’, which jerkily drops into a darkside bass tunnel following a series of warning shots, and the piano-licked ‘TenTen’, but frankly the whole EP is sounding pretty tight right now.

Fulcrum will release Distronet on October 22, with an early launch party taking place at Manchester’s Fac251 on October 1. Paleman, Thefft and label co-owner Damu will be performing.
