Beck working on "standard format" album

Good news for people who can’t read sheet music.

In an interview with Australia’s triple j radio, Beck says he’s working on a new album which — unlike his forthcoming song reader — would be released in a “pretty much standard format.”

“I started a record, largely recorded in 2008,” he explains. “So I’m trying to carve out some time from all the production work I’m doing to finish those songs before they become records from a lost era. It’s going on a half decade at this point.”

Beck Hansen’s Song Reader is due out on December 7 through indie publishing house McSweeney’s. While Beck recorded demo versions of the music, it’s unlikely that he’ll release them. [via Consequence of Sound]
