Drake's OVO label signs to Warner Bros

October’s Very Own? More like Warner’s Very Own.

The Canadian rapper’s pet brand has expanded enormously in the last few years. Some high-profile synergy with the Weeknd’s XO project helped promote the imprint, and this year saw the rapper bring Rick Ross and The Weeknd to Toronto for the second annual OVO Fest. It’s also served as an online go-to for new music from the rapper.

OVO, it appears, is set to be a more much formidable force in 2013. As Billboard report, Warner Bros have signed a deal with the label. Further details of the arrangement are set to be released later today, but we presume we’ll be looking at some big signings under the OVO aegis.

Despite the team-up, Drake will continue to rep Lil Wayne’s YMCMB stable as a recording artist. As Pitchfork note, Ross’ Maybach Music Group currently have a similar deal with the major.
