Martin Rev's solo debut reissued

US label Superior Viaduct is reissuing the 1980 self-titled solo album by Suicide’s Martin Rev.

The album, originally issued on noted no wave imprint Infidelity, has twice been reissued on CD, but never before on vinyl. Superior Viaduct’s 2012 handsome edition of Martin Rev includes a new interview with its maker by Alan Licht.

The label has this to say about the record:

“In 1980, shortly after Suicide’s second full-length, Martin Rev released his first solo album…Uninhibited by the trappings of a collaborator, Rev was freed to explore his most experimental and pop leanings with dirty synths, dark melodies, and dreamlike textures, and produced a masterpiece of modern alienation that captures a uniquely New York landscape.

“Echoing other electronic forerunners such as Silver Apples and Kraftwerk, and foreshadowing the work of Aphex Twin and Air, Rev’s solo outing rests firmly in the lineage of unnerving sounds from the furthest fringe of maladjustment.”

The album is due out on February 5 and is currently available to pre-order direct from SV here.
