Man arrested for murder following Parklife death

A 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the death of a man at Manchester’s Parklife Festival earlier this month.

Robert Hart (pictured), 26, was knocked unconscious in front of the main stage in Heaton Park on June 7 and died in hospital four days later. It later emerged that the Macclesfield resident was attacked after trying to protect his girlfriend from being hit by an inflatable toy.

Police and Parklife organisers thanked the public and the media for their help with the investigation, which they say is still ongoing.

Detective Inspector Richard Eales said: “Over the last two weeks, we have received a huge amount support by both the public and the media for the appeal to help find the person responsible.

“We now have a man in custody but that doesn’t mean the investigation is at an end. We are continuing to investigate and we are renewing our appeal for information or any relevant footage.”

Anyone with information can contact the police’s incident room direct on 0161 85 69283 or email mit.syndicate8@gmp.police.uk with any relevant footage. Parklife have also offered a £20,000 reward for information about Hart’s killer. [via Manchester Evening News]
