Daft Punk to be subject of forthcoming documentary

The robots head to Canal Plus.

They’ve soundtracked Tron and had Discovery turned into an animated feature, but next year will see the debut of the “first independent movie” about Daft Punk. The documentary is being produced by BBC Worldwide Production France for French premium channel Canal Plus.

The documentary “chronicles the rise and artistic world” of Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo. “We are proud to announce our first commission with Canal Plus Group on such an original and creative film,” said BBC Worldwide’s Jean Louis Blot. “BBC Worldwide France stands as a major French producer of documentaries with stunning production values and universal appeal.”

Earlier this year, the duo unveiled a ’70s-styled ad campaign for the new merchandise and beat back rumors of a performance at Devils Tower. [via Variety]
