James Murphy is creating over 400 hours of music from tennis matches

James Murphy has partnered with IBM for a new musical project, creating over 400 hours of music from data sourced from tennis matches from the US Open.

As Dazed reports, Murphy is relying on a three-part alogrithm to make the sounds: the first part is the data provided by the match (fault, second serve, etc), the second is sound output, and the third’s job is to “translate between the tennis and sonic data”.

You can check out how they sound over on the US Open Sessions website.
