The Klaxons are splitting up. Probably.

The nu-rave poster boys are splitting up. Well, probably.

In a pair of tweets posted today, the Klaxons announced that “after what’s been nearly nine bananas years we’d like to let you know that we’ve decided the upcoming dates will be our last headline tour”, though they “are still looking forward to playing Mexico, Russia and Japan next/this year”.

Presumably that means the end for the band, though there’s a chance they’re simply going to stop playing live (it seems unlikely, though).

After a series of singles that captured the imagination of British indie kids-turned-ravers in 2006 and 2007, the Klaxons won the Mercury Prize with their debut album Myths of the Near Future. The group released their third album, Love Frequencythis year.
