If you’ve got no musical training the Chordana Composer can do all the hard work for you.

If you’ve ever found yourself whistling a melody and frustrated you don’t have the grounding in musical theory to do something more, Casio can help. The electronics giant’s latest product is an iOS app called the Chordana Composer, which allows the user to construct an entire track from a two-bar melody sung or whistled into the device’s microphone.

Once the melody is recorded, you can pick from five different genres and a number of melodic settings to get just the melody as close to your imagined opus as possible. If singing or whistling isn’t your thing, then the app also features a keyboard interface. We’d imagine the limited genre options probably don’t stretch to drone, grime or techno, but if you want to try it out it’s available on the App Store for £2.29/$2.99.
