Taku Obata’s colourful creations pay tribute to the b-boy tradition.

Japanese sculptor Taku Obata has created a series of vibrant wooden sculptures that celebrate breakdancing and hip hop culture.

Obata’s latest work features a crew of breakdancers decked-out in neon sweatsuits and posing in various breakdancing stances.

As Hi-Fructose Magazine puts it: “Elonaged hats, glasses, and folds in the characters’ clothing convey a sense of movement, as if we’re seeing the forms captured in a long-exposure photograph.”

Obata utilised traditional Japanese wood carving techniques to create the sculptures.
