A new virtual instrument from Sampleism allows you to recreate the sound of 1960s computers.

The Thales Model I VST is comprised of mellotron-like sounds that were all generated by early ’60s mainframes and sourced from public domain films.

The sounds within the software contain remnants of their source material, such as background noise and tape hiss, giving the VST a textured sound that is unlike most virtual instruments.

The Thales Model I package contains a number of organ and horn tones as well as a telephone, a theremin and more. You can hear a demo of the VST below.

A free version of the plugin is available at archive.org. The full version is available for £6.99 at Sampleism.[via Synthtopia]
