Compton rapper opens up about his mind state in the making of To Pimp A Butterfly.

Following the news of his engagement to long-time girlfriend Whitney Alford, Kendrick Lamar has opened up about his mind-state during the making of his third album.

In an interview with MTV, published this week, the Compton rapper admitted that he struggled with depression and suicidal thoughts while making To Pimp A Butterfly.

The four part, one-on-one interview with Rob Markman delves into the making of album track ‘u’ and the thoughts and mind-state that Lamar faced. He talks about the difficulty of “accepting change” and the need to balance two different lives.
