New Zealand producer Fis will release his debut album, The Blue Quicksand Is Going Now, this Summer.

Fis has steadily released singles and EPs over the last three years, gathering a reputation for rhythmically-free approaches to jungle and more. His tracks often feel like they’re made with no grid at all – or if they did have one, then it’s been chewed and torn beyond all recognition by the time it’s finished.

Fis has released on established labels like Exit and Tri Angle in the past, but his album comes on the newer Loopy, a label that launched last year with his Speech Spirits EP. A press release tells us that the album was made between stints living in New Zealand and Europe, and “marks a continued move away from the high-octane experimental D&B productions that initially marked [him] out, towards something that both viciously rips away and cascades with calm.”

The Blue Quicksand Is Going Now will be released on June 29, stream ‘Happy Alone’ below.
