Footage has surfaced from a Facebook user of Prince’s first ever performance of ‘Purple Rain’.

As the video explains, it was taken in 1983 at a benefit in Minneapolis where Prince debuted many songs that ended up on Purple Rain. This performance was actually recorded and overdubbed to become the ‘Purple Rain’ we all know as one of the greatest singles of the 1980s.

Prince is notoriously vigilant with takedowns for his music online so it probably won’t be around for long. Watch it below.
