Australian activist group Collective Shout have released a statement responding to Tyler, the Creator’s new song, ‘Fuck It’.

In ‘Fuck It’, uploaded yesterday (October 12), the Odd Future rapper called double standards over the fact that he’d been denied entry to Australia while Eminem was allowed to perform in the country (he also asked “how can I be misogynist? I love titties and ass / How can I be homophobic when my boyfriend’s a fag?”).

Speaking to AAP, Caitlin Roper, Campaigns Manager at Collective Shout, describes the song as a “tantrum”, and claims that Tyler’s lyrics “rely on the exploitation of women to generate profits”.

“While [Tyler] may have been a young man when he wrote music describing raping women, mutilating their bodies, locking them in his basement and raping their corpses,” the statement continues, “he’s not a child anymore, and he is yet to grow up and take responsibility for what he has put out into the world.”

Roper also points out that “Collective Shout partnered with a coalition of domestic violence organisations in 2014 calling on the government to deny Eminem a visa.”

Collective Shout is an Australia-based group that campaigns “against the objectification of women and sexualisation of girls in media, advertising and popular culture.” Stream ‘Fuck It’ below.
