Club goers in the German capital let refugees know they’re welcome.

Night clubs in Berlin have been taking part in a new fundraising and awareness initiative that has so far raised over €40,000 for refugees.

Titled PLUS 1, the campaign asks clubs to require a charity donation of at least €1 for anyone on the guestlist. More than 80 venues, artists, and promoters have signed up to the campaign since October 2015.

Money raised through PLUS 1 is going to three refugee charities, Sea-Watch, Moabit helps!, and Berlin Refugees, whose work focuses on refugees entering Europe through the Mediterranean by influencing the State Office of Health and Welfare and defending their rights authorities and politicians.

Following this success, PLUS 1 is now looking to become a permanent fixture in Berlin’s nightlife and support additional causes. [Via Mixmag]
