Laugh after death.

Listening to either of The Notorious B.I.G.’s classic albums, 1994’s East Coast staple Ready to Die and ‘97’s glittering, posthumous epic Life After Death, comedy isn’t usually the first thing that springs to mind. Still, that hasn’t deterred US TV network TBS from developing a new scripted comedy series inspired by the legendary Brooklyn rapper.

Entitled Thing B.I.G., the show will reportedly be loosely based on Biggie’s lyrics, charting the misadventures of a young adult (presumably in Brooklyn’s Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood, where Biggie grew up) searching for a better life for himself and his two kids.

In the wrong hands, this could go horribly wrong, so it’s re-assuring to hear that Nas’s Mass Appeal imprint is behind the show, alongside Biggie’s mom Voletta Wallace. [via The Hollywood Reporter]
