MIA – It Takes A Muscle (Pearson Sound Refix) [radio rip]
Pearson Sound’s refix of MIA’s ‘It Takes A Muscle’ is out now on white label 12″ and digital.
Those of you with your ears close to the ground will have clocked the existence of this little number last month when Benji B played it on his BBC Radio 1 show (listen to a rip above). The original track is taken from MIA’s most recent album /|/|/\Y/\, and this 808-heavy, dancefloor-primed new version is the work of David Kennedy, best known as Ramadanman, under his Pearson Sound guise.
Kennedy really goes to town with the remix, crafting a breakneck, ultra-percussive bomb that’s a close cousin of his superlative Ramadanman productions ‘Glut’ and ‘Work Them’. Limited white label copies from XL are available here, and the digital here.
