Snatched from David Sylvian and Ryuichi Sakamoto’s early 1982 collaboration Bamboo Music/Bamboo Houses, the duo’s original track is a masterclass in synthesized restraint, with spine-chilling Eastern melodies sitting comfortably over Sylvian’s post-Japan electronic beats. For the edit, grime obsessive Slackk has added a subtle slippery near 2-step beat, no doubt making the track a hundred percent more playable in a set. It doesn’t stray far from the Sylvian/Sakamoto original but it doesn’t have to, and it’s a timely reminder of just how crushing those tracks still are.
